The Beat Goes On

This had become a travel nightmare. We sat on the runway for an hour and a half, only to return to a gate because a fuse blew.

I just looked at my itinerary and I only had 1:45 in London. We’re 1:40 late right now and there are no gates to return to.

I’d like to get off this plane, find my luggage and start all over tomorrow. I don’t think that’s an option at this point.

I wonder if the real reason travelers are prohibited from carrying weapons is to protect airline employees from being victims of their own arrogance and incompetence.

Hang in there and good luck at Worlds.

    there’s a BA flight that leaves Chicago-Heathrow at 12:30:
    BA 24 British Airways 12:30 AM 12:30 AM ~ 2:02 PM 2:02 PM

You could go to Copenhagen still on United Codeshare – hasn’t left yet apparently but same scheduled time as the LHR flight.

otherwise Newark or Laguardia at 6am to get on something else …

first morning flight to London is 9am

first direct flights to Brussles are 5pm – but BA codeshare

6:20pm to Paris on United … then TGV

    nothing direct to amsterdam

    Good Luck!

Amtrak from Chicago Union Station leaves at 9:30pm Tues, gets into Penn Station NYC at 6:30pm Weds, $279 for a first-class roomette, with meals in the bargain. From Topeka to Chicago, it’s $88 coach, for a 9-hour trip. Why anyone would fly in the US is a mystery to me.

At least the fuse blew before you left the ground rather than after!

Frustrating trip. Hope it works out OK in the end.
