Okay, I’m going to restate my view that the majority of weight gain of the average American is because of the widespread use of air conditioning and heating.
Driving up to Kent’s house in Steamboat last week, a metal bracket broke on my van, because of the washboard road, and the bracket poked a hole through one of the AC lines.
So, my luck, it is in the 90’s about the whole drive up to Minnesota. 3 of us, plus two dogs in the van and it is hot. Maybe I just got used to the cool mountain air, but I’m burning a ton of calories on this drive and I’m laying in the back seat.
It’s about a 10 hour drive, door to door, from Topeka, Kansas to Cable Wisconsin. We stop in DesMoines to get coffee at Caribou Coffee and then again in Minneapolis at Byerly’s Grocery for dinner.
I can probably consume at least two extra cinammon rolls worth of calories to make up for the heat, so maybe it’s not such a bad thing after all.
