Tucker is in Training

This entry was posted in Fun Stuff on by .

Tucker has spent the majority of the last month romping around the Northwoods.  He is going to be 10 months old in a few days and has really gotten a ton more agile.  I know I haven’t put many Tucker pictures on the past week, so here are a few taken recently.

He has been swimming a few times a day, even though the water is getting colder.

His "I'm not done look."

He is pretty skinny even though he is eating twice as much food as normal.

His ribs are showing pretty good.

I got this Whistler GPS tracker that he is now wearing all the time. It shows his current location on a phone.

nice! where did you get the GPS unit from? costly?

my dog is the same way, I take her (husky/chow mix) riding 3 times a week (mtb)… rest of my time is road (4-5 times a week). She’s skinny like Tucker is, ribs showing… yet, she eats a full thing of pure beef, plus some cheese, plus a full plate of dog food. She eats a lot. People say it looks like I don’t feed her, but she’s constantly exercising. Its odd how people think, they are so used to seeing fat urban dogs I guess.

Interesting how you keep the dog light on your dog. My dog would have chewed that off a long time ago.
I have a separate collar when we go out night riding… with a bell and stuff to ward off the bears… there be bears in them woods now, as its getting close to hibernation time.

That GPS thing is cool though, even though I don’t have a cell phone. I’ve lost my dog a couple of times, when she was under 2 years… luckily she hasn’t gotten lost lately. Just 2 months ago. She decided to go swimming without telling me… I thought I lost her for sure.. So, I searched everywhere for an hour. Then decided to proceed on my way. About 1/2 hour later, there she appeared on the trail… amazing sense of smell they have.

numb – click the link on Whistle under the photo. it is $59 and a monthly service fee of somewhere between $7 and $10 depending on the duration. i also have a Garmin unit that is made for tracking hunting dogs, but that isn’t something you leave on all the time. this is super simple, and relatively cheap. i’m just trying it out on a month by month basis.

The great thing about dogs is they are always living in the moment, not worried about eh past or future…

yah, no cell phone… yet. Plus no internet at home, nor cable… I live a primitive life 🙂

I work with technology all day long (satellite stuff), once I get out of work I leave the work at work… 🙂

I’m almost caveman like out of work life…
