It’s a rainy day here in Kansas. I woke up feeling pretty run down. That is sort of surprising to me since I rode inside yesterday for over an hour and didn’t feel half bad. And, I sort of slept a lot of the night.
I just got done watching the TT at Paris-Nice. Went pretty much as I thought. I am surprised that Richie Porte only rode 4 seconds slower than Wiggins time of last year. But, it is a different year and different conditions, so it’s not really fair comparing the two.
There are 3 races within 3 hours of my house today. The local Perry Training Series, the SaltyTall down in Tulsa and Froze Toes in Columbia Missouri. I’ve raced all three of the races multiple times and am sulking that I have to be sitting on my couch watching Paris-Nice. It is surprising to me how much trouble I am having just understanding that this is going to take a while and to just chill. I usually have pretty okay form this time of the year, left over from cross, so I normally do alright now. It is hard just sitting.
The new refrigerator hasn’t shown up yet. Yesterday I got a call saying that they would be loading it on the truck at 7:30, deliverying it at 9am. Here it is 11 and no call or anything. That is sort of the way it works in the US nowadays. Disappointing.
I got a couple surprises last week. A couple, after the fact gifts that I wasn’t expecting. One was from my friend, Nathan Sheafor. Nathan went to Topeka High with me and rode with Lance on the 1992 Olympic Team. He lives up in Oregon now and blows glass for a living. Anyway, when I got back from Colorado, there was a box in my hall, with a beautiful glass piece and a very nice note. See below.
Second was a baseball bat from Trudi. It’s a Louisville Slugger, from Louisville, obviously, and it was personalized with the Cyclo-X Worlds results. Pretty cool.
Anyway, both of these things are super special and I’ll keep them forever. Thanks.
I guess I’m going to wait around until the refrigerator shows and then head over to Perry to watch. I doubt that is going to improve my mood much, but it’s better than sitting around the house all day on a rainy day.
