More Productive???

This entry was posted in Racing on by .

I wrote a thing last week about seeing a guy walking his dog on a riding mower, but somehow it got lost in cyberspace. I wish I had a picture of that. Since then, I’ve seen a guy walking a dog with a golf cart and lot of other “lazy” things.

I’m not sure what is going on. All these people are riding around in these small electric carts. Shopping at grocery stores. Out on the sidewalks. Okay, maybe some of the people can’t get around without them, but if you have enough energy to go out and start your riding lawn mower and get on it holding a leash, then maybe you have enough energy to just walk your dog in the first place.

Everything is so automated now. I think of it when I’m doing construction I hardly ever drive nail with a hammer. And I never use a screwdriver to put in a screw. Always a drill driver. I barely ever use a hand saw. Am I just that more productive? If we’re all so much more productive, then why does it seem like everything is always in disrepair? The roads, the parks, infrastructure in general. Must just be a money thing.

I think, we as Americans, have it pretty good. I’m not sure why some of us have this attitude that we need it better. Maybe some people should just go back to the basics. They can start by doing something as simple as mowing their own lawns.

The water meter guy just drives his scooter, lawn to lawn, automatically reading the meters. Seems wrong.

Shopping as a family. Great.
