Downer’s Grove went badly today. Torrential rain most of the race, which normally for me is great. Not today. I’ll get to it later.

TOPEKA, Kan. — Topeka police are warning local bicycle owners they could face up to $76 in fines and court costs if they’re caught pedaling unlicensed bikes.
Already this year 27 cyclists have received citations that include a $10 fine plus $66 court costs for riding unlicensed bikes.
City spokesman David Bevens said it’s not widely known that Topeka requires the licenses, though about 200 of them are issued each year. Police said the licenses help identify bicycles that are lost or stolen.
A police spokeswoman said officers generally don’t pull over a bicycle solely to check the license plate, and when that happens, it is up to the discretion of the officer.
The city ordinance has been in effect at least since 1973. Licenses are free and available at the city’s fire stations.
