Thank you Steve for the letter. Interesting that his view of 9 years ago about cycling is 100% valid for today’s reality. Great insight. Andy is a classy guy and amazing rider. Back in the 90’s I had the chance of racing in Europe, I also came across what EPO was doing to cycling, then I decided to stay home and not becoming another pack filler in the peloton. Andy was a very courageous man to be outspoken so ahead what is talked about today. Thanks for the letter….

Thanks, Steve and Andy. And especially Greg. I was pretty naive when I started writing about cycling. Over the years, Greg consistently pointed out the real cancer in the sport. It took me a while to get past his anger and see what he was doing was about love for the sport. Years later we were able to work together during the Landis mess and Greg explained honestly and painfully how his own life was damaged by abuse. He made me see how doping and its web of lies is abuse of sport. We have since spent saddle time together at the Cacoctin Challenge in Maryland and I met his family. An autographed jersey he gave me has an honored place in my collection. There’s plenty of room now that seven other jerseys have been removed.
