Keith Walberg rolled in right after Catherine and I. He had a great race.

The pirate was still pushing rum at the finish. I took a shot midway during the race. It wasn't straight rum. Some concoction that tasted like cough syrup.

Brian Matter finished 2nd. I was getting the play-by-by from him after the race.

This is Kyle Krause. He rode the last 14 miles without a left crankarm. And finished under 3 hours. Pretty epic.

Cole House. He had a great number. I asked him how his race went and he answered "Terrible!" Enough said.

Nice to meet and chat with you yesterday, Steve! Just to clear up, I’m not quite that big of a badass. The first time it happened was with about 14 miles to go, then it got fixed at the top of Firetower thanks to Jay from Hollywood Cycles in MN. It held together for another 9 miles, then came off again a mile from the finish. All total, I was one-cranking it for about 4.5-5 miles.

Hahahah. I have a pair of the same short shorts. I ordered them because they are marked as the same length as the standard Champion Systems shorts, but have the upgraded leg grippers. Well, they are most definitely not the same length. My tan line from the standard CS shorts is nearly 3″ lower on my leg than the “upgraded” shorts. I sent them back to CS to see if they had sent me the incorrect item or they were manufactured with the wrong size leg panels. Nope, they said they were just fine and offered no discount on another pair or anything to fix them. So, I just had to eat the $10 to ship them to CS and get them back with no fix and a pair of $110 bibs that I don’t wear because they suck.

So I’m making my way up the pirate climb when a guy near me comments on the rum shot handup he just took. I look over and I’m pretty positive it was you, and I was then left wondering why you were back here. I now see on your blog you were sick, get well – looks like you still managed to have a good time.

Hey Steve- I biked in your vicinity for a bit the other day (bright orange singlespeed with a heinous sound coming from the rear brake). You were a pretty chipper presence, it was fun to see you there. Hope you’re feeling better.
